Socialist MP Erion Braçe has reacted again to the increase in fruit and vegetable prices, emphasizing that the situation is the same in several areas of Tirana, including units 2 and 3.
According to him, the prices of basic products have reached high levels, describing the situation as worrying for consumers.
"Vegetables have gone crazy and this is a big problem!", said Braçe in his reaction.
He gave as an example tomatoes, which according to him are being sold for up to 350 lek per kilogram, as well as red peppers which reach 450 lek/kg.
"Tomatoes continue at 300-350 lek/kilogram... Red pepper is 450 lek/kilogram ," he emphasized.
Brace stressed that the price increase is not directly related to fuel, contradicting one of the most cited reasons.
"These are not oil prices; the 50 lek/liter increase in the price of oil does not have this impact on the price of tomatoes and peppers," he stated.
According to Braçe, one of the main factors is the impact of import prices, which is also being followed by domestic production, while the latter remains insufficient to cover demand. He added that structural problems in agriculture, including damage from floods and climatic conditions, have contributed to the decrease in production.
Braçe also criticized the lack of institutional response to these problems.
"We have a big problem with the production structure... But whoever doesn't listen, these are the consequences!" said the MP.
