While the Socialist Party has chosen Ogerta Manastrliu as its candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, after the dismissal of Erion Veliaj, the Democratic Party has not yet made its candidate official. Regarding this, former Democratic Party MP Dashnor Sula, in a Skype call for the 'Studio Live' show on Report TV, said that the names that have been offered by the Democratic Party as candidates are comical. He said that the past of the candidate who will be offered is important, who according to him should be a figure with integrity.
"Unfortunately, the situation in the opposition is both tragic and comical. They should have planned who would be the candidate. Look at who the self-proclaimed ones are, those who don't even have the votes of their relatives, while those who are voted for by citizens like Tabaku and Alimehmeti and other figures don't. And those who claim to offer themselves do so for a reason because they know they won't win but say let's offer ourselves so we can get something. But I say that we need to look at the candidate's past. The structures in the DP are where the qamet is calling, on May 11 this was the reason they didn't get votes, a party that doesn't have a structure doesn't know how to get them, because they are the ones who have to work, otherwise you can't get votes ," he said.
He said that there is no longer meritocracy in the Democratic Party.
"Berisha and the leaders of the DP should reflect and think about how a party enters the elections to survive and not to win. How can Berisha say we are dealing with drug lords, then he will be overthrown with protests and votes and if you go and participate in the elections against him, this is not right. You should not go to the elections only with militant people but the circle should be expanded. There is no more meritocracy in that party ," he said.
