Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, in a conversation on social media with his followers, stated that criminal groups linked to the Albanian government have also spread to Kosovo, warning of serious risks to regional security.
Responding to questions about media reports in Kosovo about suspicious investments in the construction sector by groups close to Prime Minister Rama, Berisha stated that there is a risk of setting up a money laundering scheme, similar to what he says is happening in Tirana.
He stressed that such a development would severely damage Kosovo's integration process and would give Serbia arguments to accuse it of being a "narco-state".
In his statement, Berisha repeated the accusation that Albania under the leadership of Edi Rama has turned into a "narco-state" that poses a threat not only to the region, but to all of Europe.
"In the world's media, denunciation of the Albanian mafia as the most dangerous international mafia on the planet is growing," said Berisha, claiming that this mafia is the main exporter of cannabis and the main transporter of cocaine from Latin America to Europe.
In this context, he called on the Kosovo authorities to take immediate and decisive measures against what he called "Tirana's mafia tentacles" on their territory, in order to protect the rule of law.
Earlier, Berisha confirmed that the Democratic Party remains committed to its project for a united Mirdita within its natural borders as a single local government entity, a project that, according to him, will be implemented by the next government emerging from this political force.
