Union membership, Rama: With the EU you never know, there are countries that

Prime Minister Edi Rama has returned to criticizing EU countries regarding the integration process into the Union. Rama considered as hypocritical the position taken by some countries that block negotiations with those aspiring to join the EU, due to the problems they have with each other.

In this context, Rama mentioned the case of North Macedonia. But the Prime Minister, who on many occasions has given maximum assurance for Albania's membership in the EU by 2030, today stated that with the EU one never knows, perhaps raising questions regarding the process.

"I'm a bit old in this business and I've seen a few others who were pioneers. In the beginning it was Macedonia, that's what it was called before it changed its name."

Now North Macedonia is not on the map, then there was Serbia, meanwhile it is nowhere and Albania was considered who knows.

While we are now ahead, we should not think in terms of some other countries, we should think of it as a way to do our job, and this is what we thought when we were far behind and when no one thought we would get in.

The chances are great because of the context, but with the EU, you never know. So we have to do our best at this point where the entire constellation is aligned in our favor, which has never happened before, and run to not let this opportunity escape us.

Montenegro also has a good chance. Hopefully other countries, Bulgaria will be more flexible when it comes to the RMV and let them negotiate. This hostage-taking is a bad habit in the EU, it is a kidnapping of a country for the sake of domestic politics, one country takes hostage another country, one takes another and makes meat into a ball or, so to speak, cooks its own cuisine figuratively. I hope that the RMV will have a normal path because it is meaningless for an EU country to block talks with a country that will join the EU for the sake of some bilateral issues.

I let the talks continue and at the last minute, you can say no, there's one thing we need to resolve, but it's very political, hypocritical, and stupid.

"No one, not even Montenegro, should face such a thing, I hope that Serbia will be guided on the right path. Even for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo, it would be good for all of them to join," Rama said.
