1 hour speech about "likes" and algorithms at the SP meeting, is Rama warning of the closure of social networks?

At the meeting of the SP parliamentary group, Edi Rama forgot to mention the problems of the electorate that voted for him, warning that politics and democracy are facing a new era dominated by algorithms and social networks. According to him, protests and public debates no longer take place in physical spaces, but on digital platforms where extreme emotions are rewarded, not arguments.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an hour-long meeting with the Socialist Party group, has sounded the alarm about the great power that social networks and algorithms have in these times.

In front of the convinced socialists who are following their boss very closely, Rama emphasized that politics and democracy are facing a new challenge created by the era of algorithms and social networks, where, according to him, protests no longer take place in squares, but in the digital space.

Rama said that today's protests need another "square", built for the algorithm, describing the television studio as the place where the content that feeds digital platforms is produced.

He argued that politics should be at the service of citizens, while the algorithm, according to him, favors strong emotions, anger, and immediate attention.

"Today, protests do not take place in the square, but they need a square of some kind that protests the algorithm. The square is the television studio of the algorithm, it is the place where filming is done to feed the algorithm. They are built for people who vote, not for platforms that modernize the algorithm. This is today's challenge.

Politics should be at the service of the people, and the algorithm hates that. I'm afraid that even I, who am speaking, having been very attracted to the developments of that world for years, do not understand how big and monstrous this battle is.

Whoever goes and asks for a like, a follow, and anger is against his own children. If the 20th century produced the mass media society, the 21st century is producing the new class, the algorithmic proletariat, which is united by attention, not work; it is not production that unites, but the taste of consuming oneself and life that unites; it is the illusion that the more you are seen, the more authority you have.

Democracy has not replaced it with something else. Democracy today is facing the man who may never have built anything, who has no schooling. Authority is the one who bears the most responsibility, but the algorithm does not recognize responsibility. It does not ask who built it, it asks who stopped the finger on the screen.

The one who predicts the most spectacular ending is rewarded by the algorithm. And the protest is no longer a protest, it is a market, even of careers, but in all this they are the funniest because they have not yet understood that with the SP and with us, you cannot win by going out with a rusty spoon in the market of lost careers.

It doesn't matter what is shared, it just has to be strong, angry. We live in a time where shouting travels many times faster than argument. It's an impossible race, emotion arrives faster than reason and gets likes and followers and doesn't let them see reason.

Every time a crisis is created, no matter how small, a collective exaltation erupts, they all want to be part of it. A scene has been created to show off and to greedily collect, greed that the algorithm encourages like a drug, likes, followers. How many times have you heard from people who have become famous with saddles and creams to appear there with saddles and creams because it is trendy. Only participation is rewarded, the one who makes the most dramatic video. It is enough to put the Tirana sign, even if the protest takes place in a sea in Spain, and put there with subtitles 'Death to Israel', the one who will predict the most spectacular end is rewarded by the algorithm. And the protest is no longer a protest, it is a market, even of careers, but in all this they are the funniest because they have not yet understood that with the SP and with us, you cannot win by going out with a rusty spoon in the market of lost careers.

Analysts who make analyses without facts, strategists who don't know what it means to make a strategy, revolutionaries who have nothing to do with the revolution and ubiquitous chroniclers, people who have never built anything. For them, what matters is what needs to be demolished and how to demolish it. What matters is getting followers. For them, every incident is a revolution," said Rama.

Atehere ku algoritmat i benin fresk nuk kishte ndonje gje. Populli shikonte dhe algoritmat patronazhiste freskonin. Tani qe populli eshte mobilizuar gjithandej dhe algoritmi i tyre ka mundur ate te patronazhisteve ka ik fresku, po i vjen nxehte. Eh i duruari i fituari i thone.
