The rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office continues...

The protest against the project in Zvërnec and the Rama government is continuing in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where protesters have delivered speeches with strong political tones, insisting that the movement has now gone beyond opposing a single project.

One of the protesters stated that the fence erected in recent days in Zvërnec has been removed, claiming that this is being done to divert attention from the protest in Tirana and to bring citizens back to the field.

" They have removed the fence in Zvërnec so that we can leave. Don't go there. The problem is not there. The problem is here ," he said, pointing towards the Prime Minister's Office building and receiving applause from the protesters.

One of the moments that attracted the most attention was the appearance on the podium of Iljoni, a third-grade student, who delivered a short message about the protection of nature and public spaces.

" My name is Iljon, I'm in third grade. We love parks, toys, nature. Protect them for us. Give up, give up, give up, " said the little girl, as the crowd responded with applause and cheers.

During the protest, a symbolic moment was also recorded, when a protester broke away from the crowd and attempted to approach the entrance to the Prime Minister's Office. Accompanied by police forces, she raised her hands in the eagle symbol, while the protesters reacted with applause and calls of support.

The protesters' messages have focused mainly on the need for political change and the inclusion of young people in public life. A citizen from Rrjolli called on young people to take responsibility for the future of the country.

" Albania needs youth. Come on, youth, take charge and lead the country ," he said.

As the protest continues in front of the Prime Minister's Office, it is noticeable that its focus has broadened significantly compared to the first few days. If initially the opposition was focused on the project in Zvërnec, today the calls against the government, demands for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and criticism of the entire political class dominated. The protesters have warned that the mobilization will continue in the coming days.

From the removal of the government, to the cancellation of the law on strategic investments and the Mountains Package, protesters come up with 5 demands

Scenes from the protest

For the first time since the protests began, representatives of the movement publicly presented a platform of political and legal demands, led by the government's resignation.

Today's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office marked another important development, as for the first time the organizers came up with a clear platform and concrete demands, showing that the movement has now gone beyond opposition to the Zvërnec project.

One of the protestors' representatives declared to the crowd that the movement is now represented by an initiative group and a coordination group, which will direct the future actions of the protest.

" This nationwide movement is represented by an initiatory group and a coordinating group of patriots, with integrity and high intellectual and social values. Dignified men and women, young men and women determined to take this cause to the end and in accordance with the will of the sovereign, we will know how to make the right decisions at the right time ," he said amid cheers from the protesters.

According to the organizers, civic dissatisfaction is no longer related only to developments in Zvërnec, but to the way the country has been governed in recent years.

" This initiative was born as a response to the great danger in which our country finds itself. According to our conviction, the actions of the government and this entire 35-year-old political class have violated the national interest and national security of Albania, putting the country's assets and future at the service of their dirty private interests and policies ," declared the representative of the protesters.

He then announced that the protest is organized and led by independent citizens.

" We declare that the protest is organized and led by free citizens, united around a common nationwide cause for the future of Albania ," he said.

The five official demands of the protest were then presented. At the top of them was the resignation of the government, a demand that was accompanied by the crowd’s chorus of “Resignation! Resignation!” Protesters also demand the repeal of the status and legal framework for strategic investors, the repeal of the Mountain Package, the cancellation of the amendments to the law on protected areas, and the cancellation of the amendments to the law on cultural heritage.

5 demands of the protesters

-The resignation of the government

-Repeal of the law on strategic investors

-Repeal of the Mountains Package

-Cancellation of changes to the law on protection zones

-Cancellation of changes to the law on cultural heritage

Rama in Montenegro

As hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office demanding the cancellation of the Zvërnec project and the resignation of the government, Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted via social media with a video from Porto Montenegro in Montenegro.

In his post, Rama cites as an example the tourism development of one of the most popular projects in the region, implying that Albania should not miss similar investment opportunities.

"LIVE FROM PERLA WHO WAS BROUGHT HERE BY SOMEONE WHO EXPELLED HIM FROM ALBANIA," Rama writes in the introduction to his reaction.

The Prime Minister accompanies the video with a direct message to the project's opponents, recalling, according to him, the missed opportunities of the past.

"Oh, my dear, these little brothers once passed the ball to us for a ride, because of our old men who let the ball go to the sea," Rama says.

At the end of the reaction, the head of government hints that he has no intention of withdrawing from the project, despite the opposition and protests that have been taking place for days.

"But now there is no more talk, let all those who say they don't want or don't love us forget, because the ball of the history of New Albania is passing us by again," Rama writes.

The prime minister's reaction comes at a time when the protest against the project has entered its fifth day, while opponents of the investment are demanding its cancellation, arguing that it violates a protected area with special natural and environmental values.

The rally that started for Zvërnec is getting bigger and bigger. Today's protest is dominated by messages against the government, but also against the entire political class.

Hundreds of citizens who initially gathered at Skanderbeg Square have now settled in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, where the fifth protest against the Zvërnec project is taking place. Compared to previous days, the turnout seems even higher, while the boulevard in front of the government headquarters is filled with protesters who continue to arrive from different directions.

If at first the protests focused mainly on opposing the tourist project in Zvërnec, today's rally is characterized by a significantly more political tone. Among the protesters' banners and calls, the demands for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is considered by the participants to be primarily responsible for the project and the way it is being managed, dominate.

The crowd is constantly chanting slogans such as "Rama go away", "Rama in prison", while there is no shortage of slogans against the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha. One of the most frequently repeated slogans during the protest is "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison", reflecting the dissatisfaction of some of the protesters towards the entire political class.

The protest was attended by civil society activists, environmentalists, youth, and citizens from various cities across the country. Many of them held banners against the government, while others expressed their opposition to what they consider the opposition's cooperation and silence on issues of public interest.

The rally is taking place in a politically tense atmosphere, while organizers have called for the protests to continue in the coming days. As the days pass, the protest seems to be moving away from its exclusively environmental character and is becoming a broader platform of dissatisfaction with the Albanian government and political elite.
