"World Monuments Watch" report, Albania among the most endangered

The Drino Valley monasteries in Albania have been included in the list of 25 endangered sites by World Monuments Watch for 2025. The list highlights sites with heritage threatened by conflict, climate change, urbanization and natural disasters.

For the first time, the Moon, which is considered at risk from future space activities, is included in this list. Other places mentioned include the Historic City of Antakya in Turkey, damaged by the 2023 earthquake, the Teachers' House in Kiev, Ukraine, hit by a Russian missile, and Gaza, affected by the ongoing conflict.

World Monuments Watch emphasizes that inclusion on this list aims to raise awareness and funding for the protection of cultural and historical heritage under threat.
