Prince of Savoy invites Prince Leka to be part of a royal video game: Young

Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, the 52-year-old grandson of Italy's last king, has joined forces with seven other royal families to develop a new video game that will share their legacy with a new generation that has not never heard of them.

Prince Filiberto has made headlines selling pasta on the streets of Los Angeles, produced several short films and captured the hearts of millions of viewers as he entered the Italian version of Strictly Come Dancing.

The game, which is titled "The RoyaLand", is taking place with deposed royal heirs from Albania, Bulgaria, France, Yugoslavia, the Russian Romanov family and the German Mecklenburg dynasty, as well as the ruling monarchs of Lesotho in southern Africa.

"My idea was to create a game that could combine the allure of the royal family and the excitement of gaming, including other royal families," Prince Emanuele Filiberto told The Telegraph in an exclusive interview.

"I think it's a win-win situation for both players and the Royals," he said.

The prince has yet to approach the British royal family, but said he had discussed the proposal with Prince Albert of Monaco, where Emanuele Filiberto lives with his family.

Backed by Artificial Intelligence, the video game is being produced in collaboration with Milan-based Neosperience and is expected to be released at the end of next year.

The game's promotional material includes an avatar of the prince and invites players to interact with royal families in a "cooperative experience" where they battle their rivals for supremacy to strengthen their virtual kingdoms.

"It is not only a complex game where players have to own their land, but increase their power, wealth and territory, and also (cross) the hierarchy of nobility to become the king or queen of 'RoyaLand' and to to hold this title," said the prince without any irony.

Princess Victoria, an ordinary Italian citizen who married Grand Duke George of Russia's Romanov family, who is also a cousin of Emanuele Filiberto, described the video game as "state of the art".

"It's a new way of approaching history," the princess told The Telegraph by phone. “The younger generation spends a lot of their time on social media and video games can be quite shallow. But it will be about learning and it will be fun," she added.

Born in Geneva, boyish-looking Emanuele Filiberto grew up in exile and has made no secret of the challenges of defining his role since the monarchy was rejected by Italians in a nationwide referendum in 1946.

After being allowed into Italy after a constitutional ban was overturned, the prince became a household name with his victory on Italy's top-rated Dancing with the Stars. He has spoken before about his desire to enter politics, aspiring to become prime minister.

But he is adamant that "RoyaLand" has nothing to do with legitimizing the Savoy name or advancing any aspirations to restore the monarchy.

"It's not a game that's going to bring me back," he said. "It's about trying to pass on a history, a culture and values to a new generation."
