"The Odyssey," the latest project from director Christopher Nolan, is being considered one of the most anticipated films of the year. Universal Pictures has released a new trailer, revealing new details from this ambitious production of epic proportions.
In the final scenes, Odysseus , played by Matt Damon , confronts the Cyclops, while Antinous , played by Robert Pattinson, attempts to seize power in Ithaca.
The cast also includes Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Charlize Theron as Circe , while Tom Holland appears as Telemachus . The trailer also features Argos, the hero's loyal dog.
The footage includes powerful action scenes, including episodes from the Trojan War and confrontations with the Lastrogons , bringing to the screen the rich world of Greek mythology, including the Sirens.
The film is based on Homer's classic work "The Odyssey" , one of the most important texts in world literature, which has also inspired previous cinematic adaptations over the years. Unlike the earlier versions, this Nolan release aims for a more modern and spectacular realization, using the most advanced technology.
The director shot the film entirely with IMAX cameras , which is expected to bring an impressive visual experience to the big screen. However, the project has not escaped controversy, mainly for the selection of actors who, according to critics, do not fully match the geographical origin of the myth.
"The Odyssey" is Nolan's 13th feature-length film and is expected to be released in theaters on July 17, 2026, bringing back one of humanity's oldest narratives in a new form for modern audiences.
