One of the most extraordinary astronomical events of the century will occur on August 2, 2027, when the Moon will completely cover the Sun during a total solar eclipse that will last up to 6 minutes and 23 seconds.

Considered the longest total eclipse of the 21st century, the phenomenon is expected to be visible in a wide band stretching from the Atlantic Ocean, to Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The clearest views of the eclipse will be seen in countries such as Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

According to astronomers, the maximum duration of the phenomenon will be recorded in Egypt, turning the country into one of the main destinations for sky observers and researchers.

Scientists explain that this unusual duration is related to a special positioning of the Earth, Moon and Sun. At the moment of the eclipse, the Moon will be relatively close to the Earth, appearing larger in the sky, while the Earth will be near the farthest point in its orbit from the Sun, making the solar disk appear slightly smaller.

During the total eclipse phase, daylight will fade and the sky will take on a twilight appearance for a few minutes. This is also the only period when the solar corona, the Sun's outer atmosphere, can be observed with the naked eye.

Astronomers describe this phenomenon as one of the rarest and most impressive celestial spectacles of recent decades, an event that is expected to attract millions of visitors, researchers and astronomy enthusiasts from around the world.
