The journey of composer Ferdinand Deda, which began on February 5, 1941, was particularly dedicated to the pentagram. Upon graduating from the Artistic High School of Tirana in 1960, he headed to the Conservatory of Music in Prague to pursue studies in the discipline of conducting.
In the climate of worsening relations between Albania and the former communist bloc, Ferdinand Deda, like many other students abroad, was forced to abandon his studies to continue at the Tirana Conservatory. From the auditorium, instrumentalist Deda was entrusted with leading the Albanian Radio and Television Orchestra. Starting in 1964, he performed 300 concerts at home and abroad. The soundtracks of many Albanian films bear his authorship.
As a composer, Ferdinand Deda has left behind an extremely rich musical legacy, among which we highlight: “Three Symphonic Dances”, “Four Sketches for Piano”, “Trio for Violin” and “Sung Prelude”. In recognition of his work, in 1997 he was declared the winner of the “Golden Disc”. He has been honored with the titles “Merited Artist” and “Grand Master”. Since he was a student, he led the RTSH orchestra and after his studies he was appointed to this orchestra. In 1991-1992 he specialized in Italy. Since 1964 he has performed over 300 concerts at home and abroad, such as in Italy, Turkey, Greece. With the RTSH symphony orchestra he has composed the music for many films.
Deda is also distinguished as a composer, he has composed 3 symphonic dances "meditation 1-2-3", he has also composed four sketches for piano, a trio for violin, cello and piano, a sung prelude, an improvisation for piano and string orchestra, a fantasy for xylophone and orchestra, a concertino for choir and orchestra, a concerto for clarinet and orchestra, a rhapsody with folk themes for orchestra, a concertino for bassoons, clarinet and flute, film music, etc. He is also distinguished in the genre of light songs for children. His work has been awarded prizes, Ferdinant Deda is the founder of the spring concerts on RTVSH. In 1997 he was declared the winner of the "golden disc" and was honored with the titles "Merited Artist" and "Grand Master".
In 1991-1992 he specialized in conducting and composition in Italy. Since the year of his graduation and until he retired from the stage, the artist performed over 300 important concerts, where not only as a conductor, but also worked and created as a composer. Ferdinand Deda has conducted important concerts on the national stage, but also on the international stage where he has often been highly appreciated with important prizes and medals of festivals and performances in various activities. He was also known to the Albanian public as one of the most important composers of the “Song Festival in RTSH”, the seasonal song festival “When Spring Comes” and his songs continue to be sung even today not only by singers but also by music lovers. He is even the founder of the “Spring Festival” in RTSH.
Deda has also made a great contribution to Albanian cinema as a composer of many films. In 1997, he was declared the winner of the “Golden Disc”, while he held the titles of “Merited Artist” and “Grand Master”. Artist Ferdinand Deda passed away on August 22, 2003 from an incurable disease.
Those who knew him say that the great artist was able to decipher even the musical notes of birdsong. Such geniuses come very rarely in this world and we were lucky to have one. /Panorama
