An unusual incident occurred on the evening of September 26, at the premiere of "La Traviata", when soprano Eva Golemi collapsed on the stage of the National Opera and Ballet Theater.
The incident occurred in the final scene of the opera when Eva Golemi, in the role of Violetta, was supposed to fall into the arms of Alfredo, a role played by tenor Mario Rojas, but the latter failed to perform the scene. Rojas was a few meters away from Golemi, leaving the soprano to fall to the ground.
Immediately after the incident, the staff of the Opera and Ballet Theater notified the ambulance to provide medical assistance and the artist was taken to the hospital for detailed examinations.
Contacted by Top Channel, Golemi said that she is in good health, while doctors have suggested 10 days of rest to fully recover. "I have been playing this role for 25 years, not only here, but all over the world, such an incident had never happened to me before. The event could have been more serious if I had injured my head. I am still shocked by the event," said the soprano, who described the Mexican tenor's action as a lack of professionalism.
In the four nights of the show, with three different casts, in the opera produced by the world-famous master Hugo de Ana, Golem was scheduled to be in the role of Violeta on the final night on September 29, but after the incident, it is expected that TKOB will announce who will replace her on stage.
For almost three decades, Eva Golemi has been the first soprano of the Opera and Ballet, where she has performed hundreds of roles, but Violetta from "La Traviata" was among her favorite roles, which she has brought to the stage over 70 times.
