The Special Appeals Court for Corruption and Organized Crime today reduced the sentence of Aksel Hoxha, who was accused of the murder of Stiven Toshkëzi in 2022.
Aksel Hoxha was found guilty of the criminal offense of "murder under qualifying circumstances" in connection with the serious incident that occurred in Tirana, where Stiven Toshkezi lost his life after a conflict.
The trial panel, after accepting the defendant's request for a summary trial, sentenced Hoxha to 12 years in prison, out of 18 years that were given in the first instance by the Tirana Court.
The decision has caused a strong reaction from the family of the victim, Stiven Toshkezi, present in the courtroom.
The cause of the serious incident was a conflict over a girl. The victim was returning from work with a friend, while the assailants had set up an ambush for them.
