The murder of Edmond Mëhalla, which occurred on the evening of November 30 in Elbasan, is moving towards being solved.
It is learned that the police have arrested two people and are searching for a third.
The arrested are suspected of having helped organize and cover up the tracks, while the wanted person is considered one of the key people to fully uncover the dynamics.
According to "A2 CNN", the cause of the murder is suspected to be a recent conflict with the victim, but clashes over drug trafficking are not ruled out.
Yesterday evening, the Police escorted a person living in Lezha. It is citizen Naldi Gj. who appears to have been driving an Audi vehicle days before the murder. This vehicle was found burned and is suspected to have been used by the perpetrators.
The vehicle is owned by one of the victim's own companies, Mondi Mehalla. A search was conducted at Naldi Gj.'s house in Lezha and the person is being escorted to the Elbasan police to provide explanations for his movements.
The murder of businessman Mëhalla occurred at around 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, near his business on the Southern Ring Road of Elbasan. According to experts, he was shot with three bullets, two in the head, indicating a well-organized execution.
The businessman, according to preliminary information, had just left his office and got into the vehicle at the time of the attack. The collision that occurred a few days ago for reasons that are still unclear is being taken seriously as one of the main leads in the investigation.
Yesterday, a completely burned-out Audi vehicle was found in the village of Miraka, suspected to be the vehicle in which the perpetrators fled the scene. This discovery, along with the second vehicle identified in Durrës, is being considered key evidence in unraveling the assassination plot.
Meanwhile, the police have set up numerous checkpoints at all exits of the city and continue to conduct field checks in homes and secondary roads.
At least 15 people have been arrested so far and are being questioned to shed light on the circumstances of the murder. The special investigative group, led by the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, is working to collect any evidence, including reviewing video footage of the area, that may help identify the assailants.
Official sources confirm that Mehalla had criminal records in the field of narcotics and illegal possession of weapons.
