A 50-year-old woman on the island of Thassos was violently attacked by her ex-partner while she is in the AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki.
According to police sources, the 55-year-old suspect arrived in Greece from Albania on December 1 with the intention of finding his ex-wife. After arriving in the country, he traveled to Thassos and began searching for her throughout the island.
He eventually found his ex-partner inside a minimarket, where he launched a brutal attack.
Reports indicate that he raped the woman and, despite her attempts to resist, stabbed her several times with a pocket knife, causing wounds to her head.
The victim was initially taken to the Prinos Health Center, then to the Kavala General Hospital, before being transferred to the AHEPA Hospital. She is currently hospitalized and is reported to be out of danger.
Police tracked down and arrested the perpetrator shortly after the attack. Officers confiscated the pocket knife used in the attack, along with a scalpel and a screwdriver found in his possession.
The suspect has been charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm, and has already been referred to the prosecutor.
