A police operation carried out in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office has led to the arrest of 4 people and the discovery of two bases where the forgery of various documents such as licenses, identity cards and biometric passports was practiced.
The document forgeries ranged from 80 thousand old lek to 1 million 800 thousand for biometric passports, which were ordered by citizens from Kosovo.
The investigation into this group began in early January 2026, where the criminal police received information that Adrian Haxhiaj and Artur Brahimaj were forging various documents such as patents, university diplomas, biometric passports, identity cards and others.
During the pursuit, the two are identified as "Qerosi" and "Pinoku". Meanwhile, there are at least 5 cases where agents have carried out orders to make false documents. All documents, after being obtained, were examined and it later turned out that they were completely forged.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that during the action carried out 3 days ago in the area of "Zogut i Zi" and "Kafja e Rremës", the police identified and proved the criminal activity of 4 people: Artur Brahimaj, Keldi Beshi, Adrian Haxhiaj and Ismail Gerbi.
Artur Brahimaj alias Mërkuri turns out to be the main person of this group. Meanwhile, this individual was previously arrested and later convicted for selling and distributing cocaine.
The police have now arrested Merkur on charges of "Forgery of documents" committed in collaboration, "Forgery of passports and visas" committed in collaboration, and "Aid for illegal border crossing" committed in collaboration.
Meanwhile, Tirana judge Sokol Shehu decided to impose the security measure of prison arrest on Mërkur and the other 3 accomplices, Keldi Beshin, Adrian Haxhiaj and Ismail Gerbi.
The verifications carried out have revealed that this group has been engaged in document forgery for several years, as Ismail Gerbi and Keldi Beshi are persons previously arrested for the same criminal activity.
At the center of this group are Adrian Haxhiaj and Artur Brahimaj alias Mërkuri. According to the investigative file, these two individuals carry out the illegal activity in collaboration with other individuals in Tirana.
The documents that these people and others involved in this illegal activity have are mainly identity cards, Albanian and foreign biometric passports, diplomas from various universities, vehicle documents, etc.
To carry out this illegal activity, these individuals are suspected of collaborating with other individuals from the city of Tirana and with Kosovar citizens, who place orders for various documents with Adrian Haxhiaj, and then send them by courier to Kosovo and other countries of the European Union, according to the orders.
He receives orders for people living in European Union countries via his mobile phone, social media, and by courier.
Adrain Haxhija uses the phone number 0695931XXX, and uses vehicles with license plates AA321ZU and ZA408ZT to move around.
This citizen, collaborating with other persons, provides forged documents for various citizens who then use the documents in EU countries.
Meanwhile, Adrian Haxhija has been prosecuted several times for various criminal offenses such as "Forgery of documents", "Corruption", "Domestic violence", "Threats", etc.
This citizen mainly frequents the area called "Xhamlliku", the "Kavajës" street and the area called "Kafja e "Rremës", where it is believed that his associates also reside.
To identify the criminal activity of this group of counterfeiters, the Tirana police and prosecutor's office had to introduce undercover agents.
