
31-year-old Klaus Jaçaj has been arrested by police in Saranda, in connection with the incident that occurred a few days ago in the coastal city, where two people, Ernest Lama and Gëzim Hajdaraj, were injured.
According to the police, 31-year-old Jaçaj is accused of the criminal offenses of "Supporting the perpetrator of a crime" and "Failure to report a crime."
The incident took place in a bar, in neighborhood no. 3, Saranda. Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the four wanted persons initially clashed with the two young men, Ernest Lama and Gëzim Hajdaraj, for weak motives, and during the fight between them, Ramadan Zoto pulled out a gun and shot them, leaving them injured.
At the scene, 4 firearm cartridges, a "Beretta" type pistol and a magazine with 9 cartridges were seized as material evidence. The two injured were taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana by helicopter for more specialized treatment.
Investigations show that the perpetrator, Ramadan Zoto, also known by the surname Canaj, and one of the wanted persons, Erjon Canaj, are brothers.
Ramadan Canaj is known as a high-risk person, with a criminal record in Greece, where he has been convicted of murder and illegal possession of weapons. He is also known for a sensational case when he exchanged fire with Greek police forces. He is currently on trial in Saranda for the criminal offense of "assault in the line of duty."
Four days after this event, on July 22, Klaus Jaçaj's car was blown up with explosives.
