Durim Bami has been transferred from prison again, this time from Fushë-Krujë prison to the high-security prison in Peqin.
It is learned that the transfer was carried out today by the Prison Operational Forces (DAP), while the reasons for his movement have not been officially made public.
However, according to sources close to the prison system, one of the main factors is related to Durim Bami's safety.
A short time ago, Bami had requested to leave prison 313, claiming that his life was in danger. Following this request, he was transferred to the Fushë-Krujë prison, and has now been sent to Peqin, one of the country's high-security prisons.
Meanwhile, in recent days, intensive searches have been conducted in several cells, both in regular and high-security prisons. During these searches, illegal items were discovered, ranging from improvised cutting tools to mobile phones and smart watches, which were suspected of being illegally kept by prisoners in their cells.
The General Directorate of Prisons has drafted a plan of measures aimed at cracking down on prohibited items inside cells, mainly mobile phones.
The controls also focus on stopping special meetings of some VIP prisoners, who are suspected of meeting with women and girls who are not their wives.
We recall that Durim Bami requested the transfer one day after his extradition from Dubai, claiming that in prison 313 in Tirana, in IEVP 302 on “Mine Peza” street, as well as in the prisons of Peqin and Reç in Shkodër, there are persons who pose a threat to his life. According to the request, the prison of Fushë-Krujë was considered the most suitable alternative.
Durim Bami is in "prison arrest" by decision of the Special Court, accused of several criminal offenses, including providing conditions for murder, participation in a structured criminal group and drug cultivation. According to the investigations, he is suspected of involvement in several serious criminal events, which continue to be under investigation.
Lulzim Berisha, who was being held in Durrës prison, has also been transferred to Peqin prison. His transfer comes a few days after the video scandal in which a group of prisoners, including Lul Berisha himself, were partying inside a cell in Durrës detention center.
