A scene worthy of movies was recorded this evening on "Butrinti" street in Saranda, where a police chase ended in the waters of the Ionian Sea.
Police stopped a luxury vehicle with three people inside. At the time of the stop, one of the passengers ran out and jumped into the sea to escape pursuit.
He was carrying a bag on his arm, raising suspicions of carrying illegal items, which it is thought he may have thrown into the water during his escape.
The other two people were immediately detained by the "Eagle" forces and escorted to the police station. Meanwhile, dozens of police forces were stationed along the promenade, keeping an eye on the swimmer who was trying to escape.
A few minutes later, the border police boat arrived at the scene, which made it possible to capture the suspect at sea. An official reaction from the police is expected to shed more light on the motives of the pursuit and the contents of the bag the arrested person was carrying.
