Another dangerous case of illegal possession of weapons has been cracked down on by the Saranda Police, as part of the operation codenamed "Impact", conducted amid increased measures for the tourist season. Citizen Sh. M., 31 years old, from Gjilan, Kosovo, who was traveling in a "Range Rover" in the Ksamil area, was arrested.
During the search by officers of the Saranda Police Station, a "Beretta" pistol firearm was found in the arrestee's handbag, along with a magazine full of cartridges. The vehicle, weapon and ammunition were immediately seized as material evidence.
"Following the increased controls to guarantee public order and security during the tourist season, and based on information obtained operationally, regarding a case of illegal possession of weapons that violated the safety of citizens, the services of the Saranda Police Commissariat organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Impact". As a result, the Kosovar citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto: Sh. M., 31 years old, resident of Gjilan, Kosovo.
"During the search of the "Range Rover" vehicle driven by this citizen, in Ksamil, the Police services found hidden in his handbag, 1 firearm, a "Beretta" pistol, with a magazine of cartridges. The weapon, ammunition and the vehicle of the 31-year-old were seized as material evidence," the police said.
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further action.
