The trial has begun at the Criminal Court of Kosovo against Plaurent Devishaj and Jualian Mecaj, who are accused of the murder of Andi Maloku, the driver of former MP Arjan Ndoj.
Witnesses requested by the prosecution appeared in the courtroom. However, a request by Plaurent Derivishaj not to have the media in the courtroom was rejected by the court, which also led to his removal from the courtroom.
Excerpts from the debate:
Plaurent Dervishaj: You don't have the strength to face my rights, seeing that journalists misinform the statements of witnesses. I don't have it for everyone, but for specific names. What are we asking for here? I give up on lawyers Ilia Ilia and Gerta Gorjani. Hold the trial yourself, the prosecutor is where you are. I will not appear in court again.
Prosecutor Adnan Xholi: The defendant's right to participate or not in the trial. Despite the defendant's request, the lawyers should not leave the courtroom, however, measures will be taken by the court.
I request that they be replaced with lawyers, in the first instance, otherwise the hearing be postponed, suspending the detention terms for both of them, and that the National Chamber of Advocates be notified of the lawyers' abandonment of the hearing.
