A 28-year-old Albanian man has committed suicide in Australia after jumping from a height in an Adelaide shopping mall. The victim has been identified as Mario Bacaj, a former footballer with the West Adelaide Raptors team.
The serious incident occurred on Sunday near the 2KW Bar & Restaurant, located on the eighth floor of the building. Emergency services responded immediately, sending Fire Service units, ambulances and police vehicles to the scene.
The incident is being treated as a mental health-related incident due to depression, but investigations are still ongoing.
The 28-year-old Albanian was the father of a young son. In a post on social media, the team expressed its condolences to Mario's family, describing him as a great player and a friend who was loved and respected by all.
"The club is saddened by the news of the passing of our former player, Mario Bacaj.
"Mario was more than a great player, he was a friend who was loved and respected by everyone at the club. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family at this very difficult time. You will always be in our thoughts, my friend. Rest in peace," the club said in a message.
