The Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office has launched criminal proceedings against a 29-year-old Albanian man who raped a 58-year-old Greek man to death. After a street fight, the argument escalated to a fatality, with the Albanian man being charged with intentional murder.
Greek media have also released security camera footage of the fatal moment, when the Albanian chases the victim on a motorbike after, according to him, the victim had insulted him and sprayed him with spray earlier. He is seen wearing a white helmet, as he gets off, approaches him and hits the victim with a barrage of punches.
The latter stood in the driver's seat, motionless as the Albanian gave him no chance, hitting him non-stop over 6 times through the car window, Greek media write.
The suspect is a person with a criminal record, as his photos were published, but not his identity. According to prosecutors, the 29-year-old's three previous arrests were related to minor offenses. These criminal offenses do not require the defendant to be held in custody.
The suspect admitted responsibility after his arrest, but said he did not intend to kill, explaining the dynamics.
His father, who tried to hide the evidence, the young man's motorcycle, and the 29-year-old's two friends who were accompanying him at the time of the fatal violence were also arrested.
The Albanian stated that he had blocked his path and after the first argument they separated, but the Greek continued with the insults, followed him and then sprayed him with spray paint in the gym.
According to him, this caused him to lose his composure, chase him on a motorbike and then physically attack him. His rage also led to his fatality.
With professional knowledge of martial arts, the end was tragic. He hit her head hard on the steering wheel and punched her to death. The incident was seen by many witnesses present and filmed by security cameras.
