
A 52-year-old man, internationally wanted by Italian authorities for several serious criminal offenses, has been arrested in Cërrik by the Special Operations Force.
53-year-old Albano Kume faces charges including sexual assault, kidnapping, theft and violation of weapons regulations.
His arrest was carried out with the aim of extradition to Italy, while Interpol Tirana has already initiated procedures for his handover to the Italian authorities.
"The police operation codenamed "Operation 56" is being finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force.

The structures of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, following successive operations to capture citizens declared internationally wanted, finalized the next operation, codenamed "Operation 56".
As part of this operation, in Cerrik, it was possible to locate, capture and arrest citizen AK, 52 years old, resident of Cerrik.
This citizen was declared an international wanted person after the Italian authorities issued an arrest warrant against him for the criminal offenses of "Sexual Violence", "Kidnapping", "Theft" and "Violation of Weapons Regulations". For these criminal offenses, the Italian Criminal Code provides for a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
"Interpol Tirana continues the procedures in cooperation with the Italian authorities for the extradition of this citizen," the police announced.
