It is not Vladimir Putin who is escalating, but the EU, according to the "Berliner Zeitung". This is how journalism is done. In the interest of Russia. All of this should be taken into account when spreading articles by the "Berliner Zeitung" about Kosovo.
I see that an "analysis" published by the German newspaper "Berliner Zeitung" regarding developments in Kosovo is being widely quoted. Of course, any foreign media outlet can be cited, after all, freedom of speech applies to everyone, but it would be appropriate to emphasize in the case of "Berliner Zeitung" what kind of newspaper this is:
1. In Germany it is seen as a pro-Russian newspaper.
2. The "Berliner Zeitung" was the official organ of the East German Communist Party.
3. During the NATO war for the liberation of Kosovo, it was the most critical newspaper against the intervention. Also, in relation to the Recak massacre, it led the front for minimizing the crime (along with several French newspapers) and indirectly justifying the crimes of Slobodan Milosevic's forces.
4. When Swiss nationalists, all opponents of Kosovo's independence, invited Serbian autocrat Aleksandar Vučić to the famous Dolder Hotel in Zurich a year ago to speak to a largely anti-Western audience, Holger Friedrich, publisher of the Berliner Zeitung, was also present. Friedrich is also seen in the photo with Vučić during talks with the Swiss side. The impression is created that he is a member of the Serbian delegation. In the photo he is seen first from the right (bald with a beard).
5. Friedrich is called an "unworthy" publisher and considered a danger to democracy by the traditionally pro-Western German media.
6. The Berliner Zeitung often serves as a platform for pro-Putin mouthpieces in Germany. Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who is a paid employee of Russian oil and gas companies, accused NATO in this very newspaper of humiliating Russia and claimed that NATO bears part of the blame for the lack of a peace plan for Europe and Ukraine.
7. Publisher Holger Friedrich is a fervent admirer of politician Sahra Wagenknecht, who is described by the German media as a Stalinist. Wagenknecht has opposed NATO's intervention in Kosovo, has opposed Kosovo's declaration of independence, and has opposed Germany's recognition of Kosovo. Russian propaganda worships her as the "new star of German politics."
8. According to an investigative article by the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Friedrich caused a scandal early in his tenure (as publisher of the Berliner Zeitung, 2019). Together with his wife, he published an editorial in which, among other things, he complained that the West had not accepted Vladimir Putin’s “outstretched hand” in 2001. Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Friedrich had spied on colleagues as an unofficial collaborator of the State Security (Staatssicherheit, Stasi) during the communist East Germany. An independent report partially exonerated him because, blackmailed by the Stasi, he reported “mostly things that were universally known” and his activities were said to have had consequences only in one case.
9. Friedrich, according to the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung", was the first signatory of the Peace Manifesto of Sahra Wagenknecht and (feminist) Alice Schwarzer, in which Putin and Zelensky are put on the same level, as if the obvious culprit did not exist.
10. On May 9, 2023, a year after the major Russian aggression against Ukraine, Friedrich attended a reception at the Russian Embassy in Berlin on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory in the “Great Patriotic War”. 11. The conservative newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” commented: “Putin’s friends together”.
Also at the meeting at the Russian Embassy in Berlin were the head of the radical right-wing AfD party, Tino Chrupalla, former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, and Egon Krenz, the last East German communist leader, who still finds words of understanding for the dictatorship.
12. Yesterday, the Berliner Zeitung published an “analysis” whose motto was: “Donald Trump stops deliveries of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. EU plans for escalation threaten world peace. Our author analyzes the situation and outlines an exit strategy.” It is not Vladimir Putin who is escalating, but the EU, according to the Berliner Zeitung. And that is how journalism is done.
In the interest of Russia. All of this should be taken into account when spreading articles from the "Berliner Zeitung" about Kosovo. And this does not require much research. The information is public. It can be found in 10 minutes on the Internet.
