Tax-free old age/ Government incentives for working pensioners, tax reduction

One in five Albanians today is elderly. Out of about 2.4 million citizens in total, more than 473,000 are over 65 years old.

Aging, a phenomenon that calls for attention and responsibility, brings challenges that require bold solutions, writes A2.

In this transformed landscape, the government has planned to take several steps: with fiscal relief, energy assistance, and employment incentives, trying to rebuild bridges towards a better future for the older generation.

"At least 30,000 contributing individuals of retirement age benefit from incentives, such as a review of the legal framework in terms of reducing tax rates for income of employees of retirement age; Bonuses for sustainability and performance; Support for private pensions; Flexibility of working hours," says the Government.

"In order to reduce poverty for the elderly, one of the directions is to create fiscal incentives, such as tax exemptions for real estate properties of elderly owners," the Government adds.

This means more breathing space for families who rely on their pensions, while maintaining dignity and security in the homes where they have spent decades: "Abolition of the annual tax on personal vehicles for seniors 65+ and reduction of fines and late payment interest."

In an Albania where the number of elderly people increases every day, these government measures aim to provide concrete assistance and real support for this developing category, trying to face the challenges brought by the aging population./ A2CNN
