In a world where leaders speak the language of capitulation and doom, diplomacy is drowning in the rhetoric of war, and humanity risks paying the price of sick minds playing with the fate of the planet...
The world is sliding at alarming speed toward an era where diplomacy has been replaced by ultimatums, threats, and the brute logic of force.
Instead of negotiating tables, we see the tribunes of war; instead of the language of reason, we hear the rhetoric of capitulation. This is the mad age of ultimatums; a time when international politics is being driven by frayed nerves, wounded egos, and dangerous calculations that could lead the world to a new catastrophe.
The ultimatum of “unconditional surrender” to a sovereign state is not diplomacy. It is a language that belongs in the history books of world wars, not in the era of globalization and interdependence. It is the language of total confrontation, of contempt for dialogue, and of a mentality that sees war as a normal instrument of politics.
The moment politics begins to demand capitulation, diplomacy is dead.
But the drama doesn't end with those who give ultimatums.
It continues with those who respond with equal theatrical pathos. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that “the surrender of Iran is a dream that the enemies should take with them to the grave.” A sentence that sounds heroic in media headlines and on political podiums, but which is essentially part of the same rhetorical tragicomedy.
It's strange how at the most dangerous moments in history, leaders begin to speak with a dramatic pathos that resembles more theatrical monologues than the language of state responsibility.
One demands unconditional surrender, the other responds with graves and dreams that will die with the enemies. And meanwhile, in the midst of this rhetorical competition for heroism, the most important thing is forgotten: the people who will pay the real price of these words.
This is the greatest irony of modern wars. They begin with grand speeches and end with mass graves. The words are always bold in press conferences, but the reality of war is always the same: cities destroyed, families torn apart, and an entire generation growing up in the shadow of trauma.
History has taught us that wars are not started by geopolitical interests alone. They are often born of closed minds, the arrogance of power, and a dangerous combination of fear and pride. When leaders begin to believe that the adversary should be humiliated rather than listened to, when compromise is seen as weakness rather than wisdom, then the road to disaster is paved.
Today we are witnessing this very moment. A rhetorical contest where each side seeks to show that they are stronger, more ruthless, more determined to not give up an inch. But the history of diplomacy teaches us a simple truth: no major conflict has ever been resolved by ultimatums. Wars can impose ceasefires, but only diplomacy builds lasting peace.
In this climate of global hysteria, humanity is acting as if it has learned nothing from the twentieth century. Two world wars, millions dead, cities destroyed, and an international order built precisely to prevent this madness from happening again. And yet, today, a century later, we are once again hearing words that resemble 1930s ultimatums, a rhetoric that once led the world to disaster.
The biggest problem is not just the war that is breaking out. The problem is its normalization. War is being treated as an acceptable political option, as an instrument of diplomatic pressure, as a way to impose one's will on others. This is the most alarming sign of an international system that is degrading.
Because when diplomacy fails, it's not just politicians who fail. Institutions fail, collective security mechanisms fail, and the societies that tolerate these policies fail.
The tragic irony is that in a world armed with weapons of mass destruction, with technology that can wipe out cities in minutes, leaders continue to talk about war with a frightening irresponsibility. It is a paradox of our time: the more destructive the weapons become, the easier the rhetoric for their use.
This is not just a diplomatic crisis. It is a crisis of reason. A crisis of global leadership. A crisis of a world that seems to have forgotten that peace is not a natural state, but a fragile construct that requires effort, patience, and compromise.
If ultimatums become the norm of international politics, then peace is ruled out. And when peace becomes the exception, history has always shown what comes next.
So this is the time to say clearly: the world does not need new ultimatums. It needs diplomacy. It needs leaders who understand that true power lies not in the ability to start a war, but in the wisdom to avoid one.
Because otherwise, this crazy time of ultimatums could become the prelude to a tragedy that humanity will not be able to bear./ Pamphlet
