Analyst Fatos Lubonja has participated in the massive protest taking place on the streets of Tirana, where thousands of citizens have gathered on the ninth day of mobilization against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In an interview with "The Unexposed", Lubonja said that the protest has united people with different beliefs, ideologies and backgrounds, but who share the same dissatisfaction with the way the country is being governed.
"There are all classes, the youth dominate. It is truly a heterogeneous crowd here, with different political, religious and social beliefs. What unites them is frustration with a decision-making process from which they feel excluded," Lubonja declared.
According to him, the protesters believe that decision-making in Albania is concentrated in the hands of a small group connected to power.
"Those who make decisions are a minority of oligarchs and organized crime linked to the government and Edi Rama. They are excluded from the Albania that Rama has built for the oligarchs, with the oligarchs ," the analyst said.
Asked whether this movement could turn into a new political force, Lubonja said that currently the focus of the protesters is the removal of the government and not the creation of new parties.
"This aims to overthrow the government. Then a political crisis could open up that will bring new actors into play, new left or right-wing parties. This belongs to tomorrow," he said.
According to Lubonja, the energy this protest has generated could exert enough pressure to bring about political change.
"Their energy is concentrated and could force the government to resign, and then a new order could be created," Lubonja declared.
