The company "Hako", owned by Adnand and Antonela Hako, has become a symbol of food fraud and danger to Albanian consumers. With misleading advertisements that they produce fresh beef sausage and with false European certifications, in reality their products have only 15% meat, and that too from imported refrigerators with a shelf life of 15–20 years. The rest is animal waste that needs to be buried, Chinese soybean meal for animal feed, and harmful substances.
AKU reports have found ground bones, intestines, giblets, animal skin and even rotten potatoes. To mask the bad smell and color of the products, the company uses strong chemical spices and artificial additives, creating fake flavors like “beef sausage.”
On June 10, 2025, citizens publicly denounced the scandalous composition of "Hako" sausages: potato skins, bean kernels, animal ear fibers, bone fragments, fat, and even falsified expiration dates.
The Albanian Supreme Audit Office and the Albanian National Agency for Health Protection have documented repeated cases where “Hako” has recalled tons of moldy and smelly sausages, but instead of burying them, they were reintroduced into production under false reports. In April 2021 alone, over 2,000 kilograms of expired sausage were found to have returned to the market. In total, during the years 2015–2025, 35 such cases of reintroduced expired products were identified.
Of the company's 70 types of products, 52 have been found to be manipulated and harmful to health. These include the best-selling products: popular salami, Saxon, Mozzarella cream cheese, Pizza ham, Parisier, chicken kernacka, sausages, beef ham, smoked crudo and many others.
The company publicly declares that it procures meat from certified European suppliers, but the reality is completely different: fraud schemes, animal waste and false reports, covered up with bribes and the cooperation of AKU and IHP inspectors.
Albanians are being served poison in the name of sausage. And the state, instead of closing the food crime factory, has chosen to turn a blind eye./ Pamphlet
