The wreck that took Astrit Kalasa's soul!

The crime in the courtroom was not an outburst of nerves over property issues, but the result of a bandit spirit fueled by absolute power and the culture of impunity in Albania...

The property scandal that caused a great human tragedy and a terrorist act within the state is profound evidence of institutional misery.

The cold-blooded murder of the Appeals Judge cannot be reduced to a mere property conflict; behind it lies a bandit mentality focused on power, where decisions are ruled from above and institutions are just a facade.

Every day, attempts to present that event as a property dispute have been an attempt to obscure the reality: this was a criminal act fueled by a culture of impunity and by the idea that some actors may have a “blank carte blanche” to act with violence.
Such a display of absolute power creates the monster that today took the life of Astrit Kala, not for a controversial document, but because there are people who feel untouchable and authorized to decide over the lives of others.

The death of Astrit Kalasa is a monument of horror that shows us that we are not yet capable of calling ourselves a European society.

First, because the system did not guarantee life and safety to an element of justice; second, because we have allowed such conflicts to turn into a time bomb with tragic consequences.
The court is the place where legal disputes are resolved, not the arena where sentences are issued with guns. When the administration and bureaucracy produce parallel decisions on the same property, the ground is created for extreme violence, such as what happened.

For 30 years, the accumulated frustration of mismanagement, corruption and property deals has often ended up in courtrooms. But when justice does not function properly, when institutions are slow or have vested interests, civil conflict risks turning into a fatal conflict. This is the extent of the tragedy we experienced with Astrit Kalënë.

And, when such a tragedy is followed by a rapid political and operational response that aims to "empty the country of the problem" with destructive methods, such as the TNT demolitions that often accompany IKMT actions, the question arises: are problems solved with violence and spectacle?

Society's answer must be clear: no!
The solution requires a deep institutional reform: functional justice, independent protection of judges, transparent administration and real punishment of property abuses. Only in this way can such tragedies be prevented from recurring./ Pamphlet
