French President Emmanuel Macron will welcome his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to Paris on Monday (December 1).
The news was announced by the Elysee Palace as a Ukrainian negotiating team departed for the United States to discuss the American plan aimed at ending the conflict with Russia.
"The two leaders will exchange views on the situation and on the conditions for a just and lasting peace, following discussions in Geneva and the American plan and close consultations with our European partners. They will also discuss the work done on security guarantees within the framework of the coalition of the willing," the French presidency said in a statement.
Zelensky stated that Ukrainian negotiators had left for Washington to seek a "dignified peace" and a quick end to the war.
The negotiating team is now headed by former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov following the corruption scandal in Kiev.
The mission is clear, Zelensky wrote in X: “To quickly and substantially work out the necessary steps to end the war.”
