A serious incident occurred on Friday at the Dubai Airshow, when an Indian HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed during a planned demonstration.
The plane was performing maneuvers in front of an audience when it crashed shortly after 2:10 p.m. local time, sending thick black smoke billowing over the airport. The pilot was pulled from the wreckage, the Indian Air Force said a short time later.
The incident occurred in front of a crowd of spectators, including women and children, who were watching the demonstration from specially designated places.
Organizers have not released further information about the cause of the crash or what happened to the pilot, while local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
