Despite heavy military strikes, the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and intense economic pressure, Iran is projecting an image of triumph.
Saqab Esfahani, vice president of President Masoud Pezeshkian, told the state-run Tasnim news agency today that Tehran has its "foot on the enemy's throat" and that the United States must learn the "language of power."
In a scathing interview, Esfahani listed four "big dreams" of Washington that, according to him, have completely failed to achieve.
" The US has 4 dreams: Changing the geographical map of Iran (territorial disintegration); Paralyzing the Iranian economy; Invading Iran; Compromising the Iranian leadership. Even though our leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was martyred at the beginning of the war, none of these dreams were realized ," the official said.
Iran's economy is struggling and the country and its leadership remain under the threat of an uprising, with the population largely opposed to the regime, even if there appear to be no imminent signs of the kind of protests that spread across the country earlier this year.
While analysts argue that the US has implemented a weak strategy, Iran has not emerged from the conflict unscathed.
