The escalation of the situation in the Persian Gulf and recent developments in the Middle East have immediately reflected in international energy markets, exerting pressure on the price of oil.

Oil prices rose more than 1% in early trading on Wednesday as investors watched with concern the heightened tensions in the region. The markets reacted after reports of US strikes on the Iranian island of Qeshm, as well as after Iran launched missiles and drones towards Kuwait and Bahrain.

As a result, Brent crude futures rose by $1.05 per barrel, reaching $97.05, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose by $1.01, trading at $94.77 per barrel.

Analysts estimate that any further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East could bring new fluctuations in global energy markets, directly affecting fuel prices.
