The Kremlin is unaware of the US peace plan; Europe is alarmed: We do not accept

Moscow has not received any information from the US through official channels on the peace plan in Ukraine that some international media have written about.

This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to RBC. The spokeswoman said that "if the American side had any proposals, they would have communicated them through the channels used between the foreign ministries of the two countries," but the Russian Foreign Ministry "has not received anything similar from the State Department."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, regarding the Ukraine peace plan, said it was necessary for "both sides to accept difficult but necessary concessions."

"Ending a complex and deadly war like the one in Ukraine requires a broad exchange of serious and realistic ideas. And achieving a lasting peace will require both sides to accept difficult but necessary concessions. That is why we are developing and will continue to develop a list of possible ideas for ending this war, based on input from both sides of the conflict," Rubio said.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, reacting to the peace plan, said "we support a just and lasting peace, but for any plan to work, Europe and Ukraine must agree."

She said she was "unaware" of European involvement in building the US peace plan.

"There is an aggressor and a victim: we are not hearing any concessions from Russia, such as an unconditional ceasefire, given that bombs are still falling on civilians," she said.

"We want a just and lasting peace to prevent further aggression by Russia. In this spirit, we continue to support Ukraine with the financing plan based on reparations loans and military cooperation," said French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot as he approached the Foreign Affairs Council.

He added that peace cannot mean capitulation: for the Ukrainians, who have fought heroically for three years, they will reject any kind of capitulation. "We must start with a ceasefire on the contact line and then move on to negotiations, including on territorial issues. The only one who refuses is Putin," he added.

"Believing that time is on Ukraine's side is an illusion and the Brussels elite, including the High Representative, is living under this illusion," Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said as he arrived at the Foreign Affairs Council.

The head of Hungarian diplomacy then said that Russia is advancing, conquering more territory, and the sanctions have in no way brought its economy to its knees.

"We must now stop funding Ukraine, where a war mafia rules, and the fact that Commission President Ursula von der Leyen sent a letter asking member states for over 100 billion euros without even mentioning corruption in Ukraine is madness, a scandal," he concluded.

According to a report by Axios yesterday, citing U.S. and Russian officials, the Trump administration has secretly developed, in consultation with Moscow and apparently to the exclusion of the Europeans and Kiev itself, a 28-point peace plan for Ukraine. The plan calls for Kiev to cede to Moscow parts of eastern Ukraine it does not currently control and reduce its military strength, in exchange for an unspecified U.S. security guarantee for Ukraine and Europe against future Russian aggression.

According to Politico, citing a senior White House official, a framework for ending the conflict should be approved by all sides by the end of the month, and possibly "as early as this week."

Russia attacked Ukraine with 136 drones, hitting 16 locations. At least 106 of them were shot down, Ukrainska Pravda reports. According to Ukrinform, citing statements by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, Russian forces carried out two missile strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, launching 52 missiles and 57 air strikes, dropping 124 guided bombs. In addition, Russian forces carried out 4,442 artillery and missile strikes, including 218 with MLRS, and used 3,885 suicide drones.

Air strikes targeted areas including Velykomykhailivka (Dnipropetrovsk region), Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Novodanylivka and Plavni (Zaporozhye region). In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 55 enemy attacks.  /Adapted from Ansa/
