US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a telephone conversation today where they discussed the US peace plan for Ukraine.
The news was announced by the German Chancellor herself, who described the conversation with Trump as "good and confidential." He stressed that he would discuss it with European leaders and inform them about the call.
" We have agreed on the next steps at the level of advisors. I will now inform the European partners ," he added.
This conversation comes after reports that Ukraine and Germany are among four countries working on a counterproposal to the 28-point plan.
Sky News understands from EU sources that Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky will hold a phone call next week to discuss the proposed plan.
