US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Florida was "very productive" but added that much work remains to be done towards ending Russia's war in Ukraine.
"There are many different aspects and obviously there is another party involved that will have to be part of the equation, and that will continue later this week when [Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve] Witkoff travels to Moscow, although we have been in contact to varying degrees with the Russian side as well, but we have a pretty good understanding of their views ," he said.
U.S. and Ukrainian officials spoke for about four hours, with no details on what was accomplished. Later this week, Trump's special envoy, Witkoff, will travel to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin.
