After strong reactions, a video posted on US President Donald Trump's official account on Truth Social, showing the Obamas as monkeys, was deleted.
While the president did not comment on his post, the sharing of the video, one of dozens posted to his social media account overnight, sparked strong reactions.
In the video that contained allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, at the end and for fractions of a second, an artificial intelligence image of the Obama family appears, as monkeys, to the sounds of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
Initially, the White House, through Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, defended the video.
"This video is from an online meme that depicts President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and mention something today that really matters to the American public," she said.

Later on Friday, a White House official said a staffer "mistakenly" made the post, which has since been removed.
The clip appears to come from a post by X shared by conservative meme creator Xerias.
Can't believe we have some black people supporting this man.

This video also depicts several other high-profile Democrats as animals, including New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Trump's predecessor in the White House, Joe Biden, has also been described as a monkey eating a banana.
The Obama family has not yet commented on the video.
