An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale has struck Iran, according to Iranian state media reports.
The seismic tremor was recorded on the border between Tehran and Mazandaran provinces, near the city of Pardis, at around 23:46 local time.
According to preliminary data, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers.
So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported, while authorities are monitoring the situation.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake is usually considered mild to moderate and, although felt over a wide area, usually causes limited damage.
The swing comes at an extremely tense moment for Iran, which has been facing military escalation and rising tensions with the US and Israel for weeks.
