The Epstein dossier has brought one of the biggest sexual abuse scandals back into the international spotlight, raising the question of what are the stories of the victims behind the published documents.

The US Department of Justice has released about 3.5 million pages of files, with the number of victims estimated to be over a thousand.

The dossier mentions figures from politics, finance, and academia, while the identities of the victims remain hidden, shifting attention to how they were involved in this scheme.

The materials show that the recruitment of teenage girls was organized and deliberate. A key role in this process was played by Ghislaine Maxwell, later convicted of sex crimes.

According to evidence presented in court, she identified girls near schools and created relationships of trust through ordinary social activities, such as outings, shopping, and gifts.

Once this intimacy was established, the girls were offered payments for massage sessions, during which sexual abuse was carried out. The scheme was expanded by encouraging them to bring other girls, in return for additional payments.

Investigative journalist Lucia Osborne-Crowley has documented cases where Maxwell used family conversations to identify the most vulnerable girls. Girls facing parental loss or economic hardship became direct targets.

The files also show that Epstein targeted ballet and dance schools, promising young girls careers and fame through his connections. The documents include requests for scholarship funding and tuition loans for teenage girls, which were used as tools of promiscuity and control.

" Epstein also targeted ballet and dance schools, promising young girls that he would make them famous through his connections. In one 2012 email, a contact asked if he still had $3,500 for a scholarship to attend a seminar at the New York String Orchestra. In another, they asked Epstein to approve a $30,000 loan for the education of two teenage girls. The files show a systematic, decades-long effort to identify the girls' vulnerabilities, build their confidence and exploit them. Behind each black box is a woman whose story is only just being told, but whose experiences reveal the full horror of Epstein's network of abuse," the journalist said.

The leaked documents reveal a decades-long scheme in which financial power and social inequality were exploited to identify vulnerabilities, build trust, and perpetrate systematic abuse. Behind every name hidden in the files lies a personal story that reveals the true scale of Epstein's network.
