Movie-like scenes took place this Monday on a highway connecting Lecce to Brindisi in Italy, when two armored vehicles transporting money and valuables were attacked and robbed.
A group of four people, armed and masked, ambushed armored vehicles in the middle of the road with a van, which they blew up to block traffic, ANSA reports.
After the two drivers got out, the criminals opened fire with Kalashnikovs at the two armored vehicles. They did not hesitate to open fire on the Lecce carabinieri who arrived at the scene.

So far, no injuries have been reported, and the robbery has failed. Two suspects have been arrested.
Following the attack, the Brindisi-Lecce motorway was temporarily closed in both directions. Investigations have been launched to fully clarify the circumstances.
