On December 1, the Gazette, the official public register of the United Kingdom, published a note revealing that King Charles had ordered that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's name be removed from the registers of the Order of the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order.
A note at the end of the announcement says the act "dates October 30, 2025," the day Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had officially begun the process of stripping Andrew of his titles and honors.
The announcement was issued by the Central Chancellery of the Orders of Chivalry, through St James's Palace, and reads: "The King has ordered that the decoration of 'Knight Companion of the Most Excellent Order of the Glove' to Andrew Albert Christian Edward, dated 23 April 2006, be cancelled and revoked, and his name be struck from the Register of the said Order."
"The King has ordered that the conferment of the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order on Andrew Albert Christian Edward, dated 19 February 2011, be annulled and revoked, and his name be struck from the Register of the said Order."
The newspaper is now using the full name "Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor", after the palace had already clarified that Andrew will no longer hold the title of prince.
The honours he was being stripped of, Knight Companion of the Order of the Glove and Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, had been bestowed on him by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Order of the Glove is the oldest and highest order of chivalry in the United Kingdom, while the Royal Victorian Order is awarded for exceptional services to the monarch and the royal family.
This development follows Andrew, 65,'s announcement on October 17 that he was voluntarily giving up the use of all his royal titles and honors, a move that came amid renewed scrutiny over the extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew stepped down from official duties in 2019 after his infamous BBC interview about Epstein. Queen Elizabeth stripped him of all his military titles and patronages at the time, and in 2022 he lost his final official honors after his bid to have Virginia Giuffre's lawsuit dismissed was rejected.
The process of removing his titles was initiated by the king on October 30 and concluded on November 3 with the publication of Letters Patent in the Gazette.
