The Santiago Bernabeu, the stadium that lives and breathes to host Real Madrid's big nights, is preparing for something completely different this time. Today, Monday, June 8, the emblematic stadium of the Spanish capital will be transformed into a giant religious meeting space, as it will host the event of Pope Leo XIV with the administrative community of Madrid.
The stadium's appearance will not resemble a football match at all, as this time the arena will function as a real church. A large banner with a welcoming message for the Pope has been placed at the entrance of the stadium, while inside the final preparations are being made for the construction of a large stage.
From that stage, Pope Leo XIV will address tens of thousands of faithful who are expected to fill the stands and special space organized for the event. According to organizers, around 70,000 people are expected to attend the event, making it one of the largest gatherings of the papal visit to Spain.
