The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces declares the end of military operations, but warns of a harsher response if Israeli attacks continue...
Iran's armed forces announced the end of the first wave of attacks against Israel since the April ceasefire, saying military operations had been suspended for the time being. However, Tehran warned that it would resume attacks if Israel continued its military actions, including in southern Lebanon.
The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, known as “Khatam al-Anbiya,” officially declared the end of operations against Israel. In the same statement, Iranian authorities stressed that any continuation of attacks by the Israeli side would be met with a “harsher and more decisive” response than before.
There has been no immediate response from Israel so far. Earlier, the Israeli military carried out strikes on Iranian territory, which it said were in response to Tehran's missile launch late Sunday. These were the first direct clashes between the two countries since the last ceasefire.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump called on both sides to “immediately cease hostilities.” The escalation of tensions also weighed on international markets, sending oil prices up about 4% and putting at risk US-brokered efforts to reach an agreement that would end the conflict.
According to Israeli claims, one of the targets hit was a petrochemical plant in southwestern Iran, which was used to produce ballistic missiles. In turn, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it retaliated with an attack on a similar industrial facility in the Israeli city of Haifa.
