At a time when Iran is facing increased repression, social tensions, and increasingly strong demands for political change, the "Free Iran Rally", which will take place on June 20, 2026 in Paris, is expected to become one of the most important international events in support of the Iranian people.

Organized by the Iranian Resistance, the event aims to promote democracy, protect human rights, ban executions, and present an alternative vision for Iran's political future.

According to the organizers, the rally is not simply a political manifestation, but a crucial moment to highlight the difference between the forces that support a democratic Iran and those that seek the continuation of authoritarian forms of government, whether through the current theocratic regime or the return of past models. The event draws on the experience of years of protests and popular uprisings that have expressed the dissatisfaction of Iranian citizens and their aspiration for freedom.

A long tradition of resistance

The annual Paris rally has become a well-known international platform for years, attended by parliamentarians, politicians, human rights activists, and representatives of the Iranian diaspora from different countries around the world.

This year, its importance is seen even greater due to the internal situation in Iran, where reports of arrests, repression and executions continue to increase. Supporters of the rally see it as a result of decades of resistance and sacrifice by the Iranian opposition, as well as an opportunity to amplify the voices of those facing imprisonment and persecution because of their beliefs or political activity.

Support from British political figures

The rally has also received public support from several British parliamentarians. In an article published in the Express newspaper, Lord Alton, Lord Steve McCabe and MP Bob Blackman stressed the importance of broad participation in this event.

According to them, the event represents a call to governments and international institutions to stand by the Iranian people at a critical moment for the country. They underlined that Iranians seek moral and political support to determine their own future, without external interference.

Focus on human rights

One of the main themes of the rally will be opposition to executions and support for political prisoners. International human rights organizations have reported an increase in executions in recent months, which are seen as part of the authorities' efforts to curb any form of dissent.

British MPs argue that the crackdown is aimed at increasing the cost of protest and preventing the outbreak of new popular revolts. However, they say the activity of opposition groups and resistance networks continues to expand, reflecting deep dissatisfaction with the current system.

Democratic alternative

The rally will also promote the political platform of the Iranian Resistance and President-elect Maryam Rajavi. Her Ten-Point Plan calls for free elections, the separation of religion and state, equality between women and men, the abolition of the death penalty, protection of ethnic and religious minorities, and a nuclear-weapons-free Iran.

Supporters of this platform see it as a concrete path towards building a democratic republic based on popular sovereignty and respect for fundamental human rights. This approach has found support from a number of politicians, parliamentarians and former officials in Europe and elsewhere.

Message to the international community
The rally organizers argue that the aspirations of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy should not be sidelined for geopolitical reasons. According to them, policies of reconciliation and rapprochement with Tehran over the past decades have not brought significant improvements in the field of human rights.

For this reason, they call on democratic countries to support the demands of Iranian citizens more strongly. In this context, British parliamentarians recalled the words of Nobel Peace Laureate Elie Wiesel: “Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the torturer, never the tortured.”

Waiting for June 20th

As the rally date approaches, organizers expect Paris to welcome one of the largest international demonstrations in support of democracy in Iran.

For the participants, this activity represents not just a protest, but a platform to condemn the executions, support political prisoners, and reaffirm the right of the Iranian people to decide for themselves the future of the country.

At a crucial period for Iran, the message expected to emerge from Paris aims to strengthen international support for a free, democratic Iran based on respect for human rights.
