Talks between Israel and Lebanon ended for today and will continue tomorrow, an Israeli official confirmed.
The negotiations are taking place at a time of high tension, as exchanges of attacks between Israel and Hezbollah continue and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government faces international pressure to avoid an escalation of the conflict in Lebanon.
According to reports, the escalation of fighting has also jeopardized the continuation of talks between the United States and Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a day earlier that the Israeli army would continue operations in southern Lebanon "as planned," just hours after US President Donald Trump said Israeli forces would not advance towards Beirut.
According to US media, a phone call between Trump and Netanyahu on Monday took place in tense tones, with the US president asking the Israeli leader to limit military operations in Lebanon.
Trump also stated that he had held a conversation with "representatives of Hezbollah leaders" and that they had agreed to stop the exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are expected to continue tomorrow, as international diplomacy tries to avoid a wider regional conflict.
