US President Donald Trump stated that the US and Iran are very close to reaching an agreement, while most of the negotiations have already been completed.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the deal was "largely negotiated," meaning the parties had agreed to the bulk of the terms and that only the final aspects remained to be closed.
" A deal has been largely negotiated, awaiting finalization, between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other countries involved ," Trump wrote.
He added that "the details and final aspects of the agreement are currently being discussed and will be announced soon."
Trump announced that he held phone calls with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain regarding Iran and a memorandum of understanding for peace in the region.
According to the US president, one of the key elements of the agreement will be the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
" In addition to many other elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened ," he declared.
Trump also confirmed that he had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
" The call with Bibi Netanyahu went very well ," the US president wrote.
Trump's statements come at a time when negotiations between the US and Iran appear to be moving closer towards a broader agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and reducing tensions in the Middle East.

I am in the Oval Office at the White House, where we just had a very good call with Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Minister Ali al-Thawadi of Qatar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir of Pakistan, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran and all matters related to a Memorandum of Understanding on PEACE.
An agreement has been extensively negotiated, awaiting finalization, between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the other countries mentioned.
Separately, I had a phone call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel, which also went very well.
The final aspects and details of the agreement are currently being discussed and will be announced soon.
In addition to many other elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.
