Venezuela is facing another natural disaster, after heavy rains in recent hours have caused major flooding in the state of Portuguesa, about 500 kilometers southwest of Caracas.
According to local media, several rivers and streams have overflowed their banks, causing significant damage to roads and infrastructure. No casualties have been reported so far.

The areas of Unda municipality are the most affected, where more than 100 families have been forced to abandon their homes due to flooding.
Maria Oropeza, coordinator of the Vente Venezuela movement in Portuguesa state, declared that the municipality of Chabasquen is in a state of emergency. According to her, the rains have affected several areas of the city, leaving around 350 people homeless.
