United States President Donald Trump has reacted to a military operation against a submarine loaded with narcotics.
He said the cargo was headed to the US through a known drug trafficking route.
In a statement made on social media, Trump wrote that 2 of the 4 drug traffickers were killed while the others are being returned to their countries of origin, Ecuador and Colombia, to face prosecution.
"It was my great honor to destroy a very large DRUG-LOADED submarine, which was sailing towards the United States on one of the most popular drug trafficking routes. US intelligence confirmed that this vessel was loaded primarily with Fentanyl and other illegal narcotics. There were four known narco-terrorists on board. Two of them were killed. At least 25,000 Americans would have died if I had allowed this submarine to reach land. The two surviving terrorists are being returned to their countries of origin, Ecuador and Colombia, to be detained and prosecuted. No US forces were harmed during this attack. Under my direction, the United States of America will not tolerate narco-terrorists trafficking illegal drugs, either on land or at sea. Thank you for your attention!", Trump wrote.
