Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that Israel's actions in Syria and Lebanon have consequences that affect other countries, including Turkey, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
" Turkey's security does not begin in Hatay, but in Aleppo, Damascus and Beirut. We will not tolerate any act committed in our brothers' countries, nor will we turn a blind eye to aggression ," Erdogan was quoted as saying by Anadolu.
Erdogan also said that Israel was clinging to the "illusion of the Promised Land," saying that Turkey was fully aware of its ultimate objective.
" If Israel's banditry is not stopped, the whole world, along with the region, will suffer the consequences ," Erdogan said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying that Erdogan, an anti-Semitic dictator, is the last person who can preach morality to the state of Israel. The prime minister vowed that Israel would continue to act forcefully against Iran and its allies.
Turkey has long been one of the harshest critics of Israel's wars in Gaza, Iran and Lebanon. Erdogan has banned all trade with Israel and called on the international community to take stronger measures against the country.
